The Action Planner: Steps for Developing a Comprehensive Campus Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program serves as one of three primary resources associated with the Promising Practices: Campus Alcohol Strategies initiative. The Action Planner complements the Sourcebook and Task Force Planner, and builds upon the insights gleaned during their preparation. The Action Planner incorporates an eight-step approach to preparing and institutionalizing campus alcohol abuse prevention initiatives, and is appropriate for campuses initiating, refining or revitalizing their planning efforts to address alcohol on campus and in the surrounding community. Beginning with the process of establishing a task force or planning group, the Action Planner provides sound guidance and conceptual foundations for implementing a grounded strategic planning process. The worksheets included provide specific assistance to help engage campus leadership groups in the process and outcome. The ultimate aim of the process detailed in the Action Planner is institutionalizing a comprehensive campus effort that assists in promoting meaningful campus strategies.
